5th Grade “How to Read the Bible” series
Description
In our world today, knowing how to discern truth from opinion can be challenging. And for kids—who often lack the resources and knowledge available to adults—it can be confusing, difficult, and sometimes even painful.
Our goal is to point kids toward the Bible as our God-given source of truth. But reading the Bible is much different than reading a book for school or fun. The Bible is a unique collection of writings that requires a different approach to understanding and learning from its text. This is where our “How to Read the Bible” series comes in!
Each Sunday in September, during the 9 & 10:35 AM services, our 5th graders will learn how to understand the context, background, and genre of the books of the Bible, and how to identify descriptive versus prescriptive language and the Bible’s eternal truths we can apply to our lives today.
We’ll have a lunch for kids and parents at 12 PM on Sunday, September 7 to dig into what this series will look like and how kids can practice and apply what they’re learning at home! Registration for the lunch opens August 4. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in the registration.
